Welcome to PAIN CLINIC
In Pain Clinic we introduce a BioPsychoSocial approach to self pain management. Our online platform offers both support and guidance from clinical practitioners but also from people having a similar chronic pain experience to yourself. We are here every step of the way but we aim to place the "Locus of Control" back in your hands, giving you a platform to self-manage your own chronic pain.
The sole biological (Body/Structural) framework approaches for Chronic pain don’t seem to fully explain the complex reasons for why people have chronic back pain and they also are often missing out on the key psycho-social contributions that are associated with chronic pain outcomes. Here at Pain Clinic we implement interventions fully in line with current evidence guided recommendations, by combining a series of biological, psychological and social approaches. This multi-modal approach is encouraged by the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (N.I.C.E) guidelines for Low back pain and the recent worldwide Lancet series recommendations for slow back pain.
What You Need To Do Next
Step 1 - Go through our Red Flag assessment and questionnaires at the bottom of this page. Over 90% of Chronic Back pain does NOT have a sinister cause, but we still need to do our best to assess when you should be referred out. You MUST complete this assessment before participating in our course. There is also a Clinician's guide alongside this which you can print out and show to your G.P. which explains our entire course.
Step 2 - You will be given weekly movement classes, challenges and routines to work through on a weekly basis. You can see these below, please do NOT skip ahead as the programmes are applied with graded exposure to movement. These are all tied in with our PSYCHO/EDUCATION modules, each both support the purpose of the other intervention. You will be introduced to graded exposure to common movements in life, you'll get familiar with understanding movements in your own body as well as participating in Yoga classes, Hannah Somatics Classes and Strength Classes, alongside a walking program. However, you get to choose what you want to do based on your preference. You can see our Week 1 Pain Relief Positions Below, this is a very gentle introduction into some familiar positions which can help assist with pain relief, starting to build your "Flare up Toolkit".
Step 3 - Take your time and go through the downloadable PDFs for each week. Work through them all at your own pace and use the tools we have given you in these PDFs. These tools will be useful to you on going so make sure you save the PDFs in a safe place you can access ongoing.
Step 4 - Join our private Facebook community group and share stories and your own experiences with people going through a very similar journey to yourself. It's a very safe and friendly network with support always encouraged.
