Why did you decide to start Results with Lucy?
After a 12 year battle with anorexia, I was faced with an incredibly difficult situation. My community treatment team refused to help me any further and gave me the choice of discharge or yet another admission to a specialist unit. I chose to be discharged, not really knowing what my motives were, but knowing I couldn’t keep putting my life on hold with hospital admissions. I knew I wanted to get better, but I felt helpless and uninspired. I still had a bad relationship with food and exercise when I joined RWL; I was picking at sweets and living off lollipops and ice lollies, whilst doing at least 3 rounds of insanity PER DAY. I had been diagnosed with osteoporosis due to amennorhea (absence of menstruation), my blood work was awful (low magnesium, potassium, calcium, kidney injuries, liver damage) and I knew I HAD TO CHANGE.
By sheer chance (and I count my lucky stars), I scrolled through my Facebook one day and saw an advertisement for Results with Lucy. I was intrigued. There seemed to be a huge variety of workouts and recipes which I believed I could work with. I didn’t want to give up exercise entirely (it helps my anxiety), and I wanted to start experimenting with healthy foods again. RWL was the perfect solution. I started to follow Cecilia on Insta, and I realised that to be happy, healthy, lean and strong, I would need to eat smart and train smart. It was difficult at first, but I was continually inspired by Cecilia. RWL absolutely helped me on my way to changing my life when I and professionals didn’t think it was possible.
What are the main changes you have seen within yourself since joining RwL?
My attitude towards food, exercise and life in generally has done a complete 180. I find it hard to really notice the changes in myself, but my family think I am a completely different person now. I have energy and confidence. I don’t spend my life exercising. I’ve returned to work, I socialise with my friends, I can eat an ice cream at the beach with my niece and nephew. My niece is 5 and this is the first time she has seen me sit down to eat. She’s so proud of her Auntie Meg. My mental state has completely changed. My anxiety has reduced significantly. I am energised. For the first time in years, I am content.
What is your favourite RwL plan?
I liked last year's Beach Body with Lucy plan but the 2019 version is even more awesome! Half an hour or less a day?! Amazing! So easy to fit into a busy lifestyle.
What is your favourite RwL recipe?
I love the courgette pancakes, but I also love the tofu recipes and the recipes using prawns too. Yummy!
What is your favourite RwL workout video?
So, I love Caroline’s live dance routines. The newest one is especially good! I also love Cecilia’s live HIIT workouts. All of the videos on the new Beach Body with Lucy plan are great too, though! It’s too hard to choose just one favourite!
What is one piece of advice you would give to others?
Be kind to yourself. Be patient. Changes do not happen overnight. Anything worth having can be hard work, but it will always pay off. Sometimes life can leave us feeling deflated, and that’s just fine. Life is a journey, and that means things change. Change isn’t something to fear, it’s something we should learn to embrace. We are all capable of change. We all have the ability to write our own stories, so if this chapter isn’t working out for you, keep faith, because the next chapter might be your happy ending.
