How to Stay Healthy on Holiday!

We all know how the story goes... You work super hard in the lead up to your holiday so that you can feel your best while soaking up the sun with a cocktail in hand 🍹 You enjoy the all inclusive and mini-bar a bit too much and begin to feel lethargic and put it down to your body relaxing because you're on holiday 💤 

 

When it's time to come home, you feel sad that you're leaving paradise but happy to be 'getting back to a routine' in the real world 🏡  You get home, unpack and try on some of your 'at home' clothes or, (even worse!) WEIGH YOURSELF! and then you feel upset, deflated and negative towards yourself 😭 because you've put on a bit of weight, or your clothes are a bit tight; when you should be feeling refreshed, relaxed and rejuvenated from a holiday in the sunshine! ☀

 

So, how do we stop the after-sunshine slump and continue our healthy efforts while enjoying our hard-earned rest on the beach? Here are our healthy holiday hints...!

 

Holiday Hint 1: 💦 Stay Hydrated!

It is so important to stay hydrated anyway, but even more so when we are basking in the glorious sun in high temperatures. Keep a bottle of water with you at all times and try to keep it chilled if you have access to a fridge for an even more refreshing drink while soaking up the sunshine!

Holiday Hint 2: 🏊‍♀ Power in the Pool

If it gets too hot to handle lazing by the poolside, dive on in for a few lengths of the pool while you cool off! Swimming is a great all over, gentle body workout that you can do while still enjoying your blissful surroundings.

Holiday Hint 3: 👟 Walking Wonder

Get out and explore your divine destination on foot! Take a comfortable pair of trainers or walking shoes with you so that you can get those steps in without getting uncomfortable feet...

Holiday Hint 4: 🍴 Assess the All-Inclusive

We all like to have a treat and eat all of the good stuff while we are away on holiday (it's all-inclusive, so why shouldn't we eat evvvvverything in sight?!). But by taking a step back and having a little of the not-so-nutrient dense foods, alongside making healthier choices most of the time, you can have your cake AND eat it!

Try filling up on fresh fruit, yogurt, nuts and seeds for breakfast; a light salad or soup for lunch, and then dive in to your favourites with dessert on an evening!

Holiday Hint 5: 📚 Be a Beautiful Bookworm or a Podcast Princess

While chilling on your sun lounger, get your nose stuck into a feel-good book or listening to a podcast about mindset, motivation and positive well-being. This will ensure you are looking after your mental health as well as your physical while you are away.

Holiday Hint 6: 🏋‍♀ Balcony Blast

Get those feel-good happy hormones pumping around your body so that you feel ready to tackle the day with a balcony or hotel room workout each morning before it gets too hot to handle!
