Maintaining a fit and healthy lifestyle isn’t always easy. Life happens, unexpected events and situations arise and we are all the first to remind others of this; but why are we so hard on ourselves when life happens to us? 🤷♀
The way we react to particular situations determines the tone for the rest of our day. Missed the bus? Late for work? Stuck in traffic? Overslept? All of these events will either make or break your day. If we react in a frustrated and negative way then that is our mood for the rest of the day decided. But, if we react in an accepting and optimistic way, then the rest of our day is much improved 🙏🏽
This determinative attitude applies the same to our over-all lifestyle. This is where our resilience comes into the equation. How resilient we are, determines how successfully we are able to deal with life and its many chapters. Resilience is our ability to pick ourselves back up or bounce back after a stumble in life.
Resilience begins with a resolute mindset where you decide that you are going to overcome any setbacks with intentional action. You acknowledge that you, and you alone, are in control of how you feel and you choose optimism: things might not be how you want them to be now, but they will be again soon.

Particularly as women, we tend to put the needs and feelings of others before ourselves, sometimes to a detriment to our own mental well-being. Fill your own cup, before your fill others. Always try to recognise the positive in any situation. Stuck in traffic? Be thankful that you are not the reason for the traffic because you’ve had an accident. Late for work? Be thankful you have a job to go to. Not worked out today because life has just been that busy? Be thankful that you have a lifestyle which allows you lots of different experiences. Your happiness is determined by the choices you make when dealing with any given situation.

If you are wanting to maintain a healthy lifestyle, but feel a little lost in it all at the moment, set yourself a goal. Make your purpose for wanting to live this way a priority. Imagine how you will feel when you reach your goal. It is more than how you look; how much you weigh or the size of the clothes you wear. It is about how you feel in yourself every single day.

We are all born to be different. Celebrate the successes of others, without beating down on yourself. We cannot change our height or body shape, so if you are tall and slender in build, don’t compare yourself with your shorter, pear-shaped friend. We won’t all reach our goals at the same time and in the same way, stick to your plan and just do you, consistency is key when it comes to living a healthy lifestyle
🥊 Punch out Perfect
There is no such thing as the ‘perfect’ body, regardless of what the media and fad-diet companies lead us to believe. We are all beautiful in our own way and perfect does not exist! Remember those ‘perfect’ images you see in social media are often photoshopped, touched up and not showing the whole picture or sharing the full story. The sooner we can learn that perfect does not exist, the sooner we can get on with living our best life!
