You start to feel a little bit peckish and you remember the peanut butter you stored in the drawer for these type of days. But you come to the realisation of having to mix the messy oils at the top with the stodgy paste at the bottom. No one likes to get all oily, especially if it decides to splash all over you when you're in the office.
From what you thought was a healthier option for a snack starts to look like an oily fatty snack. It may put some people off.
The reason why you see the oils at the top of the peanut butter is because good quality peanut butter is composed of just peanuts and with no added nasties (depending on which brand you buy). This often meant that the natural oils of the peanuts separate into a thin layer at the top of the tub.
We all eat partner our peanut butter with different things - whether that be with bananas, ryvitas, apples, rice cakes, or just you know, the spoon. But without a thought of stirring through the separation you just end up with a sticky claggy bottom.
The solution? It's quite simple actually. You're going to hit yourselves when you realise how easy it actually is. All you have to do is store your nut butter upside down. The oils rise to the top and the nuts to the bottom, naturally combining the two ingredients without you having to stir as much and end up getting it all down you.
So, next time you buy a fresh tub of your fav natural PB, remember to store it upside straight away.
You'll save yourself from oily banana, chalky rice cakes and a messy shirt for weeks to come.
